While the word “issue” has several meanings, today, we will look at its informal connotation and how the word is used in everyday life.

First, pronunciation.  ‘Issue’ is pronounced [e.shoo]. Why pronounced the double S like /sh/, you ask. Answer: That’s just the way it is pronounced.

Let’s look at the sentence below.

-He’s got issues.

Can you guess what “issues” refers to?

When you say that someone or something has issues, it means that that person or thing has a problem. The problem could be personal, emotional, financial, etc.

Note: Remember to always put ‘issue’ in plural.

So…..

Take your issues elsewhere.

-My new cell phone has got issues.

-From the way she looks today, you can tell she’s got issues.
